Choosing & Generating Panels

Pick a panel from the catalog or define a brand-new audience with the agent.

There are two ways to get a panel, and both happen in conversation with the agent.

Choose from the catalog

When a suitable panel already exists, the agent shows a Choose a Panel card. Each option lists:

  • Panel scope — Standard or Team
  • Panel size — the number of participants
  • Panel version
  • Type — Twin Panel or Synthetic Panel

Click Choose to use it. This is the fastest path and reuses work your team has already done.

Generate a new audience (Target Definition)

If nothing fits, the agent opens a Target Definition card so you can describe a new audience:

  1. Statistical Criteria — the measurable traits, such as age or region.
  2. Narrative Traits — descriptive traits, such as attitudes or behaviors.
  3. Panel size — the number of participants, within an allowed range (from 10 up to a cap). The card shows the estimated duration and how many Panel Slots are currently used.

When it looks right, click Confirm and start. Generation runs in the background; the agent tells you when the panel is ready.

What can hold generation up

Generation is a paid, capacity-limited action, so a few things can stop it:

  • Only team owners can start a paid panel generation. If you're a member, ask an owner.
  • If your plan's limit is reached, the card reports "Plan limit reached".
  • If there's no free slot, it reports "No Panel Slot available" — free one up by archiving an unused Team panel (see Managing Panels).

For what these messages mean and what to do, see Errors & Edge Cases.

Good to know

  • Be specific about the audience up front — vague criteria produce a vague panel.
  • A generated Team panel is reusable: once it exists, future studies can pick it from the catalog without generating again.
