Stimuli: showing images

A stimulus is an image the panel sees while answering — a packaging design, an ad, a concept board. In the study design's Stimuli section you can:

  • Choose images (or drag them into the drop zone) to add them.
  • Rename a stimulus so it's clear which is which.
  • Archive one you no longer want to show, and revive it later.

You can also promote an image straight from the chat — see Attachments & Stimuli. Add all your stimuli before launching; a running survey can't take new ones.

Survey language vs. your language

There are two separate languages at play:

  • Your language — the language you read the app and the report in.
  • Survey language — the language the panel is actually interviewed in.

Keeping them separate means you can, for example, run a survey with a German-speaking audience while reading the report in English. When the two differ, answers and quotes are translated for you, and you can always switch a quote back to its original in the report.

About translated content

Machine-translated text carries a small "machine translated" marker so you know it wasn't authored in your language. It's there for transparency — when a precise wording matters (for a headline or a claim), open the original to check it. How to check report evidence is covered in Judging Reliability.

Good to know

  • Stimuli are part of the study's design version — changing them after others have opened the study can trigger a version conflict (see When Something Goes Wrong).
  • Set the survey language to match your audience, not your own — the panel answers most naturally in its own language.
